3 Things You Must Do To Maximize Your Google Ad Grant Account
A lot of people think they know what it takes to maximize a nonprofit’s google ad grant account.
At Scale Your Cause, we have a founder who has generated billions of dollars in donations for nonprofits and here’s what he discovered along the way:
The 3 main components to maximizing your nonprofit’s google ad grant is the website, the donation widget and the keywords.
You’ll hear people talking about click through rate, quality score, bid strategies, etc but at the end of the day you need a very specific website that easily accepts donations and is getting lots of free traffic.
That’s what really matters.
I’m going to divulge exactly what we do at Scale Your Cause to websites, donations widgets and keywords that help maximize Google Ad Grant Accounts.
BTW…if you want to just take everything we’re about to share and try and do it on your own, we invite any nonprofit to do so.
The Website
There is a specific website formula to get as much free traffic from your Google Grant as possible.
Google sends more traffic when you have separate pages for every single topic/keyword your nonprofit covers.
If you just give Google the keywords, but don’t have individual pages for every single possible topic around your business, you’re going to struggle to spend as much as you could compared to if you built individual pages for every topic/keyword.
In short, you need to have a TON of pages on your website covering 100+ topics if you can.
This is included in the startup fee with Scale Your Cause and if you chose to work with us, we would build you a site that is identical to the highest performing websites our team manages right now.
This gives you the best chance at maximizing your Google ad grant and scaling your cause in the most efficient way possible.
The Donation Widget
I know this will sound funny, but most nonprofits don’t process donations very well.
Their donation button will be hidden on some obscure page or they literally won’t have one!
Nonprofits need donations in order to move their mission forward.
They need the donation process on their website to be EASY, OBVIOUS, and EVERYWHERE!
Donation buttons should be very easy to find and should be on every single page of your website!
If you send thousands of dollars of free ads provided by Google’s Ad Grant to your website, it’ll mean nothing if donations aren’t actually coming through at the highest conversion possible.
DonorBox is what we use after vetting all donations widgets in the industry. If you want to use DonorBox without directly working with us, we just ask that you sign up here:

Your donation widget has to get you donations or all the traffic in the world won’t mean a thing!
The Keywords
Ok, this one really is obvious.
You have to pick keywords that have high enough volume to generate the result you want and you have to have enough keywords to get the amount of spend you’re hoping to get.
What does this mean?
It means you have to do constant research to find new and stronger keywords, while simultaneously eliminating low performing keywords.
Let’s go back to the website for a second: When you find new keywords, you need to create new pages on your website, so that there’s a whole dedicated page to that new keyword!
If you don’t, then you’ll be missing out on maximizing your Google Ad Grant to the fullest.
At Scale Your Cause, it’s our mission to help nonprofits maximize the ad grants available to them and to help scale them to new heights.
Conclusion
Google is an algorithm.
Our founder has run $650M in Google ads to Nonprofit websites and so we know what the algorithm wants to see to give the best results possible.
You need a website that’s built in a very specific way.
You need a donation widget that converts potential donors at the highest rate.
You need an expanding keyword list that MATCHES your website pages.
If you do all 3 of these really well, you’ll maximize your Google Ad Grant and win big for your nonprofit.
We’d be happy to talk for free with anyone on this exact topic. We’re an open book and want to help ALL nonprofits, even if you don’t end up hiring us!
